Ashley Summerville of Paws for Portraits and her two dogs.

Hello, I'm Ashley!

Dog mom, photographer, and nature lover.

Let me just start out by saying, "Yes, I do believe that I have one of the coolest job ever."

My pet photography journey started because of my two dogs,

Quinoa and Cooper.

I found myself constantly taking photos of my pups on hikes and even around the house. My husband encouraged me to start my career in pet photographer since I have an obsession with photographing my pets. His encouragement has led me to have the best career ever!

"my dog can't do a photoshoot"

I hear this statement all the time! BUT I PROMISE this statement is not true. Your dog does not need any formal training to enjoy a photoshoot with Paws for Portraits. Sit, stay, heel? Not required. Whether your dog has some training or does not they are welcome exactly as they are.

I specialize in working with dogs who may be reactive, people-selective, or uncomfortable around other dogs. With extensive experience photographing dogs who need space and understanding, every session is approached with patience, safety, and respect for your dog’s boundaries.

Photoshoots are thoughtfully planned and fully customized to your dog’s needs. There are no forced interactions, no stressful setups, and no expectations for “perfect” behavior—only a calm, controlled environment where your dog can feel secure. I say this as a dog mom who has dog selective fur babies, and because of their needs to have spent years working with trainers who focus of dog psychology.

Why Physical Artwork?

What makes Physical Artwork so special?

Your digital downloads are something you look at every so often or you use them as a screensaver.

BUT Have you ever noticed which photos you actually display in your home? The ones that make you smile every time you pass by. That’s exactly what I aim to create.

By capturing your pet’s true personality, my photography becomes more than just pictures—it becomes wall art that brings joy every day. Whether it’s a sassy pose, a playful glance, or a quiet, stoic moment, these portraits turn your furry friend into a daily reminder of love, laughter, and all the little moments that make life brighter.
