Our foster dogs Story

Breed: Pittie Mix
How we found peaches:
One day driving home in November my husband was looking outside of the passenger window on Dunbar road In Warner Robins, GA to see a dog curled up in a ball right beside some dense woods. We ran home to drop our dogs off, and headed back to the location in hopes to still see that dog there. My worst fear is the dog had passed, because it had not moved from where we last saw it when we drove past originally.
Thankfully she was alive, but very scared. For the next 2-3 hours we spent time getting her to trust us. My dog mom brain made sure before we left the house to bring wet dog food, dog food, and treats- because I did that we were able to build trust with her. I sat on the ground near her tossing food as we tried to get her closer to us. At one point she ran into a busy road, and I had to stop traffic and get her back to the side of the road our vehicle was on. Eventually, my husband and I stood side by side on each side of her body and slowly lowered a slip leash down over her head.
We at this point assume she was dumped because we had multiple people in the area that lived near where she was at never stop to say "I know this dog'.
What we did when we got her home:
We kept her in our care for the 7 day holding period, and after many social media post no one claimed her. We say that we were her guardian angels because we were able to find a shelter - Paws in Middle Georgia- that would let us foster her. I say angels because she probably would have not made it past the 7 day holding period due to her breed and shelters being at capacity.
Current day & how she has grown:
As I type this we are at 80 plus days of fostering with us since we found her. We have seen her GROWN so much since she was DUMPED. As time went on Peaches went into heat in December of 2025, and we are now assuming she had a litter and then dumped. Peaches has now been fixed, dewormed, and is negative from any worms/bugs. She has even seen the vet and was given the "she's healthy and healing great."
I always say to my husband: "Imagine being kept to be a mother to a litter than dumped. It wreaks me even thinking about it."
BUTTT during our care we have taught her how to use her how to sniff (yes I said sniff), become more confident, learn how to trust people, and even learn some commands. Her all time favorite thing to do in this world is the play fetch. When she is playing fetch her face lights up, and she becomes so confident (I type that with the biggest smile on my face). Now don't get me wrong she loves the cuddle on the couch with her favorite humans too. She has her own room in our sun room because we have two dog selective dogs inside our home so she doesn't get to do that as often as she would like.
We have found through doggie daycare (at Endless love pet palace) that she tends to do well with aloof dogs that are older and leave her alone. She isn't the biggest fan of hyper dogs. She loves a calm environment and wants to become someones shadow.
Get to know peaches:
- Fetch is her obsession
- Loves to cuddle
- Will flop down for belly rubs
- Knows 8 commands (sit, stay, come, back up, drop it, up, break, no/yes)
- Fully kennel trained and loves her kennel. She knows it as her safe space
- When you come home after a long day she will howl
- She loves to be your shadow. Peaches will follow you around the house until she gets bored just incase you need her assistance for anything. Once she is bored you can find her in a dog bed sleeping.
- She is a home body but also would love to come with you on your adventures. She loves the back yard and being in the house. She has become more confident being in the car daily.
- She is dog selective. New foster family says that she does well with hyper active dogs, and would do well with another dog.
